The Gale from the North blows into Colonial Williamsburg
On April 19, 1775, embattled farmers of the Colony of Massachusetts fired the shots heard ’round the world at Lexington. Two days later, Lord Dunmore, the royal governor of Virginia, had the gunpowder removed from the Public Magazine in Williamsburg, leaving the colonists defenseless.
As Virginia’s delegates prepare to travel to Philadelphia for the Continental Congress, Mann Page rides to the Raleigh Tavern and warns that Governor Dunmore plans to stop them, in this Revolutionary City skit.
