Building R2-D2, with LEGOs
While democracy was dying to thunderous applause in Ohio this weekend, my young-at-heart-ling and I ventured to Tysons Corner, where a LEGO master was constructing an 8-foot replica of R2-D2.
Did the Empire strike back?
No, builders consulted a scale model in constructing the 8-foot version.
Scores of padawans, ages 4 and above, helped by assembling the small clusters of bricks that comprised the robot.
But with time running out, perhaps LEGO Jedi masters were the robot’s only hope.

For two decades, I worked at political jobs. Then my parents got sick, and I went home to help care for them, and they died, fourteen weeks apart, in their late 60s.
