Cherry Blossoms Peak in Washington, D.C.!

The Washington, D.C., cherry blossoms reached peak bloom this week, a little earlier than expected, thanks to the warm weather.

Peak bloom is considered to be the point when 70 percent of the blossoms have opened.

They make for a sea of pink and white around the Tidal Basin, a reservoir in West Potomac Park.

Important monuments like the Jefferson Memorial sit adjacent to the Tidal Basin.

The Washington Monument soars not far away.

And the Smithsonian Castle glistens from the National Mall at sunset.
