Bilt Dining in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada, is more than the casino capital of the world.  It’s also a great place for foodies — with restaurant options ranging from celebrity-chef show-stoppers to fast-food outlets.  Having visited the Neon City many times since I first road-tripped from Newport Beach decades ago, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy many of them.

And the Vegas dining scene recently got even better.  Bilt Dining has arrived in America’s playground.  The program lets you earn rewards points at restaurants; the points can be redeemed for travel and other things.  Bilt offers a Mastercard that belongs in the wallet of almost anyone who travels.

Bilt points are transferrable to several travel partners.  The Bilt Mastercard is the only major card whose points transfer to American Airlines’ AAdvantage program.  Bilt’s other airline partners are:  Aer Lingus, Air Canada, AirFrance/KLM, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Hawaiian Airlines, Iberia, Turkish Airlines, United, and Virgin Atlantic.  Its hotel partners are Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott.

With Bilt Dining, you can earn up to 16 points/dollar at participating restaurants.  Here’s how:  You earn up to 10 points/dollar spent at the restaurant.  If you use your Bilt Mastercard, you’ll earn another 3x points on your dining.  But Bilt celebrates “Rent Day”, the first of the month, with double points, so then you’ll earn 6x points for using the card.  The up-to-10 Bilt Dining points plus the 6 Rent Day points can add up to a whopping 16 points/dollar.

But you don’t even have to use the Bilt Mastercard.  You can link other credit cards to the program.  You’ll still earn up to 10 points/dollar when using any registered card at a participating restaurant.  So if you want to link a foodie favorite like Capital One’s Savor, you can, and you’ll still earn the up-to-10 points/dollar from Bilt, plus the 4 percent cash-back from Capital One.

Bazaar Meat

Celebrity chef José Andrés is at the helm of this upscale Spanish restaurant, which is open for dinner.  Its extensive menu offers virtually every kind of meat imaginable, including Wagyu beef, suckling pig, and Maine lobster Thermidor.  There are also two tasting menus from which to choose.  The dress code is “Casual Elegant”.  Bazaar Meat is located at the SAHARA.

The Capital Grille

This upscale American chain restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.  The menu offers typical steakhouse options, from oysters on the half-shell to filet mignon.  The dress code is “refined”.  The Capital Grille is located at the Fashion Show Las Vegas shopping center across the Strip from the Wynn.

CUT

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck heads this upscale steakhouse, which is open for dinner.  Along with the expected steaks and seafood, the menu offers off-beat options like American Wagyu beef sashimi and black mission and green Adriatic figs.  The dress code is “business casual”.  Cut is located at the Palazzo.

Echo & Rig

This upscale butcher shop and steakhouse is open for lunch and dinner.  It offers happy hour at the bar on Monday-Friday during 3-6 p.m, with drink specials and three small plates:  a hot dog, a steak & egg, and “Butcher Fries”, served with prime steak, house-made teriyaki, and scallions.  Business-casual dress is fine.  Echo & Rig is located in the Tivoli Village shopping center.  The closest upscale casino hotel is the Palms.

Golden Steer Steakhouse

Las Vegas legends like Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley enjoyed dining at this old-school restaurant, which is open for dinner.  The menu features classic steaks and seafood, as well as “Italian Specialties” like eggplant parmigiana.  Business-casual dress is fine.  Golden Steer is located off the Strip on West Sahara Avenue.  The closest hotel is the SAHARA.

Lotus of Siam

This cozy restaurant offers an extensive selection of northern Thai cuisine for lunch and dinner.  It is located off the Strip on East Flamingo Road.  The closest luxury casino hotel is the Wynn.

Luke’s Lobster Las Vegas

These seafood shacks are open for lunch and dinner.  Popular items include lobster rolls and clam chowder.  There are two locations in Las Vegas:  at Fashion Show Las Vegas and at New York New York.

Sparrow + Wolf

This upscale American restaurant serves dinner.  The small menu offers creative takes on classics like lamb and octopus.  There is also a chef’s tasting menu.  Business-casual attire is fine.  Sparrow + Wolf is located off the Strip on Spring Mountain Road.  The closest upscale casino hotel is the Palms.

SW Steakhouse

This upscale restaurant is open for dinner.  Its broad menu features steaks from Japanese Wagyu to Chateaubriand, as well as several seafood selections.  The dress code is “Upscale casual chic”.  SW Steakhouse is located in the Wynn and offers prime views of the resort’s fun complimentary show “Lake of Dreams”.

Top of the World

This international steakhouse serves dinner.  Its menu offers standards like beef, chicken, and fish.  The dress code is “upscale”.  The restaurant’s real draw is its views.  Top of the World is located on the 106th floor of the STRAT‘s Tower.  It revolves 360 degrees every 80 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the neon of Las Vegas and the beauty of the mountains in the distance.  I enjoyed one of my most memorable meals there.
