Will Atlas Shrug?

While our Congressional and Administrative overlords were meeting today to hammer out the details of King George XLIII’s proposed $700-Billion reward program for irresponsible lenders and borrowers, Sen. John McCain was speaking in Scranton, Pennsylvania, trying to peel a few whiners from Sen. Barack Obama’s column, insisting that government must “keep people in their[!] homes”.

But the taxpayers who are on the hook for these Democrat-lite demagogues’ plans to expand the welfare state aren’t so sure they want to pay to keep irresponsible people in homes they never should have bought in the first place.

“I’ve been financially responsible with my own money. Why should I now be responsible for the fact that you were not?” a Manassas resident asked in today’s Washington Post.

There’s no legitimate reason in the world. It is time for Atlas to shrug.

  1. I’m disgusted with this bailout.

English philosopher Herbert Spencer said it best: “The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.”
