Why I Doubt Huckabee Will Drop Out Anytime Soon

Calls continue to mount for Mike Huckabee to drop out of the presidential race soon. It could happen, but I doubt it.

There’s a strain of the scandal of the evangelical mind that views prudence as a lack of faith. Proponents of this view point to the many Biblical accounts where God has done what’s humanly impossible. Gov. Huckabee places himself squarely within this camp with comments like, “Folks, I didn’t major in math. I majored in miracles, and I still believe in those too.”

I think we’re stuck with him for the long haul, folks, but so is John McCain.

  1. Huckabee irritates me, and not just because of the disparity of his views. He’s a spoiler, in the same manner that Perot helped split the Republican vote in ’92 and ’96.

So is Ron Paul. Both men have something to offer. But at this point, the fix is in. Time to unite.

I may despise John McCain and disagree with him on several major issues, but he’d be far preferable to Clinton or Obama.

I say we should give up on RP and Huck and look to drafting Condi Rice as the Republican Veep!

  2. In other words, Huckabee believes he’s “on a mission from God.”

By referring to himself and his candidacy as a miracle (and what other interpretation is there, really?) is he not committing the sin of Pride?
