Death Tax Vote Thursday

The U.S. Senate today opened debate on full repeal of the estate tax. A cloture vote on the issue is expected for tomorrow. It promises to be close.

Earlier this evening, I joined state legislators and business leaders from around the nation on a conference call with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (Tenn.), hosted by my friend Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.

Sen. Frist called the death tax “the most unfair tax”. He noted that its repeal would create jobs, create wage growth, and create savings and investment.

He’s right. As I pointed out in “Ax the Death Tax“, the estate tax kills jobs and family businesses.

Here’s what you can do: Contact your two senator and urge them to repeal the tax on death–fully and permanently. ATR offers some suggested language that you can personalize in an email message. Even better call your Senators at 202-224-1212.

Hurry! Sen. Frist expects the vote around 10:00 in the morning.
