It looks like the Big Three CEOs will be flying back to Detroit in their private jets without $25 Billion of the taxpayers’ money.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid earlier today cancelled tomorrow’s vote on a bail-out for the Detroit Three after Republicans rejected the Democrats’ scheme to siphon the money off the $700 Billion appropriated last month for Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson’s pals.
Taxpayers aren’t out of danger yet. A bail-out could still come, if not in this Congressional session then in the next.
But the vote cancellation suggests that Congress is starting to pick up on the taxpayers’ resentment of bailing out every industry that flies into Washington to whine before Congress.
Perhaps Atlas is at least starting to squirm.
