Bush Hammers another Nail into the Constitution

Stock up on light bulbs. Take care of your car. Learn to love flour tortillas.

President George W. Bush this morning signed the federal goverment’s latest power grab.

While stopping short of Mike Huckabee’s dream that “we ought to declare that we will be free of energy consumption in this country within a decade, bold as that is“, President Bush signed into law an energy bill that increases the federal government’s power over your life by mandating the annual use of 36 billion gallons of ethanol and other biofuels by 2022, a 40-percent increase in the expensive fuel-efficiency standards by 2020, and the phase-out of incandescent light bulbs beginning in 2012.

Soon the only people with power will be the feds.

  1. Cominius, thanks for your comment. Yes, the Dems are just as guilty of Constitutional betrayal. But I expect as much from them. Libertarians and true conservatives (i.e., classical liberals) are the Constitution’s first line of defense. Big-government Republicans are the real threat to our efforts.
