Reductio ad Absurdum

Thirteen hours after the deadline for Medicare recipients to sign up for the prescription drug give-away, a bipartisan group of Senators announced legislation to eliminate the financial penalty for late-comers who still want to grab some green from tax-payers’ pockets.

Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.) defended the amnesty proposal, saying, “It’s time to cut seniors a little slack.”

After all, what kind of welfare state would this be if people had to pay for their mistakes?
