Blogging for Terri

One year ago today, doctors removed Terri Schiavo‘s feeding tube, beginning the 13-day execution of her sentence of death. Unable to speak for herself, she died at the court-backed request of her husband, who was living with another woman whom he has since married.

As I wrote in Breakpoint on March 31, 2005, the day she died from dehydration:

That court after court could find in favor of the death desired by a woman’s cold-hearted, adulterous husband over the life desired by her loving, heart-broken parents shows the corruption of modern culture. …

The law is supposed to protect the powerless from the powerful. But by ruling against Terri Schiavo’s parents again and again, the courts have perverted justice to enforce the same might-makes-right ethic that would prevail under anarchy.

BlogsforTerri is asking bloggers to blog in her memory over the 13-day anniversary of her dehydration. I plan to honor that request and to blog about Terri Schiavo and why her life mattered during this time period and beyond.
